David working on water line this evening...

He used the trencher and dug a 4" wide, 1 foot deep trench, and laid 250 linear feet of 1 1/4" PVC SCH 40 pipe towards our new house.  He put a faucet on the end for use by the contractors.  We still need to extend another 100-feet to service the house.

Construction permit pulled!

Stucco colors confirmed!

Our house colors have been selected and confirmed with the sub-contractor.  The house elevation is a general visual using the Sherwin-Williams Visualizer.

The colors shown are:  The browns on the left are the gutter/downspout color (on the chain) and the stucco trim color for the house.  The yellow middle color is going to be the base color of the house.  The tans on the right are the stone mortar color and the window colors for the house.  Our stone is going to be a Chateau cut with Hickory color and the roof is going to be Weathered Wood color, both shown.

We have selected our front Texas Star door, but have not picked a color yet.  We are leaning towards a dark red/maroon color.

9/15 - 7:13pm - Finished for the day!

We wrapped up at 7:15pm.  It had been a long day, but we got a lot done.  We still need to shingle the roof, close off the soffits, paint, plumb the tank, re-connect the water lines and add a new stub-out for the new house.

9/15 - 6:33pm - Roof Decking

David and my mom decked the roof and put on the tar paper.

9/15 - 6:15pm - Door Installation

We installed the door and added the hardware.  Took a bit to plumb and level, but it works perfectly.

9/15 - 5:59pm - Cletus comes to visit!

9/15 - 5:58pm - Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It's off to work we go!

9/15 - 5:57pm - Siding

We used 5/16" Hardie board to complete the walls.  We have to take extra careful measurements when cutting out to the door frame.

9/15 - 3:26pm - Roof Framing

We created a lean-to roof with 5 ft 2x4 studs.  We cut bird's mouth slots to align and allow roof framing to lay flat on the stud walls.

9/15 - 2:52pm - Framing is up!

We built the framing for the walls in the garage before hauling them to the site.  David used his fancy new nail gun (3" framing nails) to attach the studs to the deck.

9/15 - 1:15pm - Set and Level Foundation

After the base was built, we used concrete deck footings to level the foundation.  Now comes walls!

9/15 - 1247pm - Site Demolition

David disconnected all electrical from pump and removed storage tank.  He also disconnected existing water lines after draining the system.

9/15 - 10:29am - Base Construction

First we had to build a base foundation for our pump house.  We used wolmanized 2x6's, 3/4" plywood and plenty of cross bracing to construct.  The storage tank will weigh approximately 700 lbs when full so it requires special bracing.

9/15 - Pump House Construction

We spent all day on Saturday building a pump house at the water well to enclose and protect the existing water tank from inclement weather.  This will be the same system that will be used for our new house.

This is the site before construction.
