Roof Joists are going up

The house moves very quickly.  By the time I go to work & come home is changes...  The (2) beams that span the open area of the house are (16) boards thick...  6-3/4" wide by 2' tall.  The main beam that spans the family room is 30' long.  I have no idea how they lifted it into place, but it was on the ground on Monday & in the air on Tuesday.  Magic!

Exterior sheething is on...

Wire Pull Set-up

We set-up to pull the 378' of electrical cable from my existing service to the new house.  We have temporary power for construction & will double as our permanent power feed when we get the exterior completed.  Was tough, but Dad & I got it knocked out.  Took 3-1/2" hours...  300+ lbs of wire/comp. reel.

We pulled the cable about 20' a run w/ Dad's truck.  It was an adventure.

We have walls...

It won't be long & it will actually start looking like a house.  I have a friend of mine from work that is going to come out & help me get my wire pull together.  Need to get some power to the site for the guys to work...

Checking the lumber

The guys hand selected all the exterior lumber to make sure it was straight.  Since they will be doing the drywall, they don't want to make too much work for themselves.

Haulin' Exterior Doors

Just picked up our exterior doors @ The Home Depot...  We checked Lowe's & Surplus Warehouse & HD had the best pricing.  On to the tubs & fireplace...

House update...

The foundation looks good and the water crossing is curing nicely.  We are in the process of getting all of our exterior doors and tubs needed for the framers.  David is going to pressure wash the slab and finish running the electric to the house.  The foundation crew was out this weekend taking down forms.  The framing crew will be onsite on Wednesday morning to start framing.  Foundation cables will be stressed on Friday and the rough grade will be complete then.  It is coming together!  I may drive down on Wednesday to get some pics of the framing going up.  SH130 (the tollway) is opening on Wednesday down by Lockhart, so I am excited to try a new route (hopefully a faster one) to the new house. :)

Will take about 5-7 days before we can drive on it...

David says there is a back exit...  I hope he is right!

Shiny, shiny... :)

Had some extra concrete so put about 7 yds in the low crossing

Tedious process...

But will look great!

Stamping the lanai

Still hard at it at 2:45pm

The final touches...

The powder release agent allows stamp to not stick to concrete

It will wash off and look beautiful!

Last truck just arrived at 12:15pm

Total of 208 yards of concrete, approx 4100 square feet.

Pouring the lanai

Reminds me of snow shoes!

Our handy work in the garage... :)
